Our Why.

The South Side Community Growth Foundation aims to bring lasting positive impact to the South Side neighborhood. By connecting neighbors, organizations and government, and investing in the neighborhood, the Foundation will help everyone access the resources they need to thrive, support the South Side’s children, and secure a bright future for the community.

What We Do.

The South Side Community Growth Foundation is committed to serving the residents, businesses, and organizations that make up the South Side of Syracuse. We’re starting our work in the neighborhood surrounding McKinley Park, from West Brighton Ave to Ballantyne Road, and from South Salina Street over to Valley Drive and South Ave.

As we grow, so will our reach and opportunities – ensuring more residents have access to safe housing, and economic stability – to enhance the sense of community shaped by all of the people who call it home.

Our Work.

At the South Side Community Growth Foundation, we are committed to revitalizing our neighborhood by investing in housing, strengthening community connections, and driving sustainable growth. Through strategic partnerships and neighbor-centered initiatives, we work to create a stronger, more vibrant community for all.

Housing

We believe that quality housing is the foundation of a thriving neighborhood. Our efforts focus on:

  • Revitalizing properties through a balance of new development and thoughtful restoration.
  • Homeowner grants & loans to support residents and local landlords in maintaining and improving their homes.
  • Creating partnerships that will result in significant investments on the South Side and decrease vacant lots and structures.

Community Engagement

A connected community is a strong community. We foster engagement through:

  • Responsive and timely partnerships with neighbors, businesses, and government.
  • Building relationships that empower residents to lead and shape their neighborhood.
  • Asset mapping to identify and leverage the strengths and resources within our community.

Our 10-year vision is clear:

  • Revitalization of public spaces and a reduction in vacant properties and parcels
  • Increased community pride and cohesion
  • Empowered resident leadership and voice
  • Expanded public and private sector investment
  • Increased financial security for residents
